Last month, I was waiting in the passenger seat waiting for Holly to come out of a short appointment. I got bored and pulled out the manual from the glove compartment, flipping through to see what I might not have seen before.

What I had thought for nearly three years was the air bag compartment was another, bigger glove box!

I have dreams of discovering a new room in a house, or of inheriting a place that has a forgotten suite of rooms, usually with drawers full of clothing accessories and costume jewelry from the late 19th or early 20th century (grandma stuff), and a room with more than one bed.

This was kind of like that! A new room in a house.
:-)

I hadn't known there were any cars with more than one glove box, until my husband got a Prius and it has two in front of the passenger seat and a small box in the center.Sandra Doddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11853107998229753762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1850157855681975587.post-14519633865697601222013-01-29T08:57:14.397-07:002013-01-29T08:57:14.397-07:00My family has always called the glove box the &quo...My family has always called the glove box the "ditty box." Later, when I heard the term "glove box," it made sense immediately to me because we also like to play Mille Bornes, a French card game about driving cars, that includes a special card called Driving Ace (As du Volant) that features a picture of gloved hands on a steering wheel. The Driving Ace card means you are unable to get into an accident. Magical gloves! I'd keep those in a special box, if I could--the kind with a lock, even.Sally Lopezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11436358515688091819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1850157855681975587.post-47907835404907081652012-07-27T05:38:37.918-06:002012-07-27T05:38:37.918-06:00Following links from someone's vacation notes ...Following links from someone's vacation notes on Facebook, I came to this:

Hello and welcome to Ilfracombe (from the Saxon Aelfreinscwm)Sandra Doddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11853107998229753762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1850157855681975587.post-77407394131353644792011-11-03T04:44:31.361-06:002011-11-03T04:44:31.361-06:00Enlivened links:

I've eaten other things because I was hungry or they were there, but no cravings. So I've aimed toward oatmeal with raisins. Cheese.

I did eat at a buffet yesterday. Fish and chicken and rice, mostly. Vegetables. But several of the things I got I didn't eat because they seemed right, but only to taste them because they were new.

It feels very different, eating what my body says "Get this if you can," and what just happens to be there, or I'm eating to be polite or practical.

When I was younger, and before I watched my kids grow up so differently, I wouldn't have believed there was any such thing.Sandra Doddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11853107998229753762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1850157855681975587.post-53053837155217123822010-08-14T19:44:48.768-06:002010-08-14T19:44:48.768-06:00I don't know what the belief is of people who ...I don't know what the belief is of people who are scientific or what the folk beliefs are - but I can share my 7 year old's thoughts on the topic. I tend to write down some of the things he says as we go about our days, as I think he can be rather Wise, in an old-soul sort of way and not in a smart-aleck sort of way. So one day recently we were sitting together not doing anything in particular, and he said, "Mom, when a man needs a bowl of chocolate peanut butter frozen yogurt, a man needs a bowl of chocolate peanut butter frozen yogurt. And when he needs a cucumber, he needs a cucumber." I asked him, "do you need something?" and he said, "yes, I need vanilla ice cream." So we went and he had a bowl. To him it's just that simple - if your body (or your brain) wants something, you should go for it. When I was in college I saw a shirt for sale that said across the front, "Listen to the children." I didn't buy it. But I wish I had.Colleenhttp://milkingducks.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1850157855681975587.post-48582486539265989652010-06-29T22:47:55.653-06:002010-06-29T22:47:55.653-06:00http://www.deccabroadway.com/product/default.aspx?...http://www.deccabroadway.com/product/default.aspx?pid=58089&aid=6015Sandra Doddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11853107998229753762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1850157855681975587.post-20443591696393955212010-06-29T22:42:43.852-06:002010-06-29T22:42:43.852-06:00OH MY GOSH!
